Precious Paws Policy

Lost or Abandoned Animals

When a dog or cat is brought into Precious Paws Humane Society by the Chisholm, levitra Keewatin, here or Nashwauk police department, it goes into our animal intake room. Pictures are taken of the animal and put on our FaceBook page along with a description and the area the animal was found.  We ask the owner or anyone who has knowledge of said animal to contact us at (218) 254-3300.  We then make arrangements with the owner to get their pet back.  What the owner must provide Precious Paws before the animal can be released to them:

  • proof of ownership
  • proof of rabies vaccination
  • (if the animal is a Chisholm animal, the owner must purchase a pet license)

After 5 days, if the owner has not called Precious Paws, the animal becomes the property of Precious Paws. After 10 days, it is spayed or neutered (if needed), given all its shots, and micro-chipped.  All visible medical care is given (if needed).  Then the animal is put out onto our adoption floor and advertised on FaceBook and our website as “adoptable.”

Should the owner contact us after the 5 days are up, they will have to “adopt” their pet in order to get it back. Any medical fees above and beyond our normal protocols will be the responsibility of the owner before return of their pet.
